A graduate of Valparaiso University, Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a specialization in marketing. Becoming a fully licensed insurance professional since 1980, Tom has also earned professional insurance designations as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA).

Tom began his insurance career as a personal lines agent for one of the largest insurance carriers in the United States. Within 3 years he was promoted to District Manager and spent the next 7 in that capacity. Joining Hawk Agency in 1990, Tom became President and COO in 2001, and purchased Hawk Agency in 2003.

Tom is currently Chairman of Business Resource Services, which is part of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Board of Directors for the PACC. He is a private pilot, with instrument and multi-engine ratings, and also enjoys fishing, hunting, trap shooting and motorcycles. Tom and his wife, Dr. Cheryl Fliege, make their home in rural Metamora, IL, and have 2 adult children, Abigail and Andrew.
