Frank H. Hawk, former Traveler's Field Representative, started the F.H. Hawk Agency in April of 1929. It was located in the Aetna Life Building at 301 S. Jefferson, Peoria, IL. He started with a total number of employees of two. As business increased in the agency, so did the number of employees needed to service the accounts. In 1940, the F.H. Hawk Agency moved to the Jefferson Building in downtown Peoria.

In 1976, James H. Hawk purchased his father's agency. In January of 1979, the agency became Hawk Agency, Inc. In June of the same year, Hawk Agency moved to 222 N.E. Monroe. In January of 1982, James R. Grube, Jim’s son-in-law, purchased the agency.  At the same time, Hawk Agency relocated to 109 S.W. Jefferson Street.

109 S.W. Jefferson used to be the location of the Community Bank Building and the Lehman Building. In 1990 these buildings were destroyed to make way for the construction of the new Becker Building. So in October of 1989 we moved once again into yet another downtown office building at 101 S.W. Adams, Suite 300, in the Central Building.

In June of 1997, we moved into our beautiful new location at 7131 N. Knoxville.

In 1982, when Jim Grube became President, the agency continued to grow and expand into new areas. In addition to being a major Commercial Lines and Personal Lines agency, our product lines also include Employee Benefits and Financial Services.

In March 2001, Tom Fliege was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Hawk Agency. Jim Grube continued as Chief Executive Officer. Tom Fliege purchased the agency from Jim Grube in May, 2003

The efforts over the last few years of streamlining service, becoming more departmentalized for both expertise and efficiency, along with increased training in the marketing area, and advancements made with automation, have placed Hawk Agency in a very advantageous position today.

Frank Hawk founded the agency on simple principles; traditional values:  responsiveness, dependability, and quality.  Since 1929, we’ve remained committed to the founding principles to deliver quality products and excellent service at the lowest possible cost. 

For over 80 years, Hawk Agency has been a major factor in the industry and will continue to grow and expand. This is due solely to the hard work and dedication of the employees of the Hawk Agency. They really are the best!
